A little BREAK

I ♥ MY LEFT NIPPLE
I've just made a t-shirt with "I ♥ MY LEFT NIPPLE" written on it and hole on the left nipple. This is a first product I've made by using ideas from an old project which I never started, there is only a little sketchbook with lots of ideas like this one for a t-shirt designs and I'm thinking to do something with that soon, I didn't realise it can look so cool. And it's very pleasant feeling when you wear your own artwork on the body.

Flu Time
Instead of wasting time and staying in bed with my last few weeks new bed partners Mr Cold and Miss Flu, during cleaning my fridge I've recorded with my camera a few interesting objects. I was not expecting moulded, expired food can make me so excited, just have a look...

Purple Wednesday
This evening we (me and Ms A. Lawrance) attended to charity event called Purple Wednesday located in Bay Horse, Northern Quarter. The event was about showing different film projections (local students works), we could buy cardboard artworks made by students (a few works...or maybe all of them made by me and mates from our course), oh and lovely homebaked lemon-chololate flavour cupcakes with amazing psychodelic designs and colours on it. Finally they raised impressive sum of £218.05p from whole evening. I am really looking forward to go for another events like this. ;-D

Watching porn websites, cutting out naked guys and sticking them with animals and other "elements"?? It's not that easy as you thought!
Colour (gay) magazine is not just a collection of naughty photographs. I need to think about things like different advertisements, articles and a cover obviously. I have a few ideas for advertisements already. I'm going to use, of course, photos of Vincent to create them. Here is one made already:

My first Gay Porn Collage Magazine ;-D
I've just tried a little Photoshop editing some of my collages and then printing them on a big A2 format glossy paper. The outcome looks so impressive that I decided to do the same thing with more of them. Now I'm planning to create a real kind of gay magazine using glossy copies of my collages.

Vincent Ferelli
So, finally I've tidied up all the mess in my mind relating to this project. I've decided to create a series of gay porn collages and use only photos of (my favourite ;-P) gay porn star Vincent Ferelli, what made my work more easy and enjoyable.

Oh, why not!?
I was getting bored of making my all last collages in the same way. I was thinking about a sentence "Bringing art in to your life", why not to change it and make it "Bringing life in to your art". Then I was thinking what element of life I could put in to my collages. As an inspiration I used a collage which I made before, standing man wearing black wet coat with a background made with men's naked bodies.
"What about addictions?" "Watching porn websites can be one of them"
Yes, I was thinking to create some more controversial, bold pieces. So I've started looking at gay porn websites to find perfect photos for my new artworks. I wanted to create collages where I could use men's nude bodies but at the same time to hide an eroticism by merging porn photographs with random objects and different backgrounds, so it would look really bizarre.

COLLAGE: artists research, books
During a creating new things I always forget how important is to look at other people work, to get an inspirations from different artists, get a few ideas, do some brainstorming, and just after that start creating things. It's important to not follow just the first idea which comes to your mind.
I've been looking at works of different collage makers like: Lou Beach, Herbert Bayer, Winston Smith, Richard Hamilton and other artists, like an animator Terrence Vance Gilliam. And I think it changed a lot my way of thinking about and making collage.
I was looking for inspirations in art books "Mixed Emulsions" (Angela Cartwright) and "The Art and Craft of Montage" (Simon Larbalestier) which are showing different ways of making collages and using alternative materials like old photographs, fabrics, newspapers, 3D objects (jewellery, wire, buttons) or plastic foil.

Collage experiments, continuation

Cut, stick and draw
Last few days I've been experimenting with different backgrounds, bases for my collages. I found out that black color gives better contrast for the other elements, colors look brighter. So, now I use a black paper as an background for my bizarre scenes.
At the same time I'm trying to experiment by drawing, using different pens, paints to intersperse my works.

"Do whatever you like" project II
Reshaping, extending, cutting things and reconnecting them in different and new ways became my obsession. I decided to use few different techniques to express myself. I've started with painting. By using acrylic paint on a canvas I was trying to merge random situations and objects together.I've made two canvases already and some extra sketches, drawings, but decided to leave this technique and to try explore something else...

"Do whatever you like" project...
...First, I thought there is not better thing to do such as our current project, we have six weeks to do, to be honest, whatever we like, of course we had given two suggestions to chose but I didnt find any of them interesting enough. That's why I've started planning to make something compeletely different. Unfortunely, after few long days of "planning" I realised it's no that easy to create something without any suggestion or even advice.
Then, I've started few different "projects", all of them are based on similar ideas. On one of the first Hazel's "Your Amazing Brain" lectures, we were trying to define a creativity, as the most true I recognised deffinition which says, that creativity is about connecting the unconnected and this sentence became the main base for my forthcoming project. After an intensive brainstorming I had few good themes to follow.

LIVER-POOL BENNIAL
Wednesday, day of uni trip to Liverpool for Liverpool Biennial - International Festival of Contemporary Art.
We've been asked to choose one piece of art we seen on that day and do short review about it.
I never seen so many good art works in one day. I've been in at least 5 or 6 galleries or rather exhibition places, some of works were exhibited on a street, big screen, garage or an old warehouse.
For me, the most interesting, exciting and inspiring thing I've seen was series of three, about an hour lenght videos made by USA artist Ryan Trecartin called "Trill-ogy Comp" from 2009. An hour long set of huge amount of absurdal short situations, nonsensical conversations of random teenagers wearing careless made make-up and making weird movements. Everything full of extreme video editing mixed with computer-made sounds and compeletely random simple animations. Whole videos looked very psychedelic and kitschy at the same time.
The most interesting in "Trill-ogy Comp" is that when you start watching you know you don't like it, it can make you sick easily, but at the same time you can't stop looking at this, only because you know it's something you never seen in your whole life before.
Here is a link to one of the most extreme experiences in your life ;-D, enjoy!:

Another absurd
One day Library Project (another group work), seemingly rather few boring hours of doing research in a library has turned into exciting, absurd searching of nobody really know what. So, we've been trying to find out who is an autor of photography which we were working with. After hours of "google images" research and later, an hour break, in one of art magazines, Amy accidentally found full article about an artist we've been looking for and his work.

SPY PARTY preparation
As a mixture of students from 1st and 2nd year we've been working very well, we quickly planned every small details of our spy event like costumes, equipment, music/sounds which we were going to use as a background and different decorations. As inspirations we used spy movies like "James Bond" series, "Ronin" or "Salt".

summert project
I love absurdity, being absurd or absurd situations. One of them was a preparing of my Summer Project. After one week of my absence at the university I didn't really know what's going on my course, in the end I realised I have only 15 minutes left to dealdline for the Summer Project. So I took this challenge and have prepared instruction sheets for two "games". On the end of that day I think I was happy of a result of my "15 minutes project" ;-)
